Safety & Hygiene Standards

These are the non-negotiable requirements for all certified professionals. Compliance is verified during annual inspections.

Sterilization & Equipment
  • Autoclave must be regularly tested (spore tests monthly)
  • Single-use needles for every client
  • Proper ultrasonic cleaner for reusable tools
  • Sterilization pouches with indicators
  • Separate clean/dirty areas in studio
  • Digital sterilization logs (new 2026)
Studio Setup
  • Minimum 15m² per artist (updated 2026)
  • Non-porous, cleanable surfaces
  • Proper lighting (minimum 500 lux)
  • Hand washing station in procedure area
  • Sharps and biohazard disposal
  • Waste management certification
Personal Protection
  • Fresh gloves for each client/procedure
  • Proper mask usage (procedure-dependent)
  • Clean, professional attire
  • No eating/drinking in procedure areas
  • Bloodborne pathogen training (annual)
  • First aid and CPR certification

Prioritize client safety, comfort, and informed consent above all else. Refuse service when contraindicated.

Honesty & Transparency

Be truthful about experience, qualifications, and limitations. Provide realistic expectations.

Professional Competence

Maintain and improve skills through continuous education. Stay current with industry developments.

Respect for Colleagues

Support fellow professionals, avoid disparagement, and collaborate to elevate the industry.

Cultural Sensitivity

Respect diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and body autonomy. Avoid cultural appropriation.

Environmental Responsibility

Minimize waste, use sustainable materials where possible, and dispose of hazardous materials properly.

Violations of this code may result in suspension or revocation of certification.

Certification & Verification Process

Initial Certification
  1. Application Submission - Complete forms and submit documentation
  2. Document Review - We verify business registration, insurance, etc.
  3. Studio Inspection - On-site visit to verify compliance (can be virtual for remote areas)
  4. Approval & Badging - Receive certification materials and window decal
  5. Directory Listing - Added to public directory within 7 business days
Ongoing Compliance
  • Annual Renewal - Membership and certification renewal required
  • Random Audits - 10% of members audited annually
  • Continuing Education - Minimum 8 hours/year for Professional members
  • Standards Updates - Members notified of changes with 6-month transition
  • Complaint Investigation - All complaints investigated within 14 days
